A peaberry coffee bean is when one single round bean develops inside of the coffee cherry instead of the usual two beans. A natural mutation, it is estimated that 5-10% of coffee grown will produce peaberries.

Mt. Kenya is the second tallest peak on the continent of Africa, a single point inside a vast thicket of national forest. Along the lower edge of these forests many believe the best coffees in Kenya are crafted.

Kirinyaga county is one of the smallest and best known of these central counties, year after year producing beloved coffees with fruit-forward profiles.

SL28 is a very special and notable coffee variety. In the 1930’s, Scott Laboratories (“SL”) began testing and categorizing coffee varietals. SL28 was one of the varieties of coffee identified as delivering the highest cup quality and most intense sweetness, and for thriving in the growing conditions in Kenya.
